An easy way to keep up to date with Josh, Calvin, Colette, Greg and Abby.

Ok, so I have to post this one before I forget it...oh no, I think I forgot it. Think...Oh! Ok, so we were praying as a family before bed, after a rousing rendition of Father Abraham (Colette is a big fan of the arm waving). Greg asked who wanted to pray for our weekend retreat w/ the college groups he's part of. Both the boys volunteered, so Greg jokingly said, "Ok, Josh you pray for the retreat, and Calvin you pray too since you're more righteous." I of course gave Greg the, "I'm not so sure that's a wise thing to teach the boys" look. I was quickly distracted by Josh, always the boy, passing gas. To this, Calvin replied, "I'm more righteous than you because you just cooted!" Remember - Calvin's "c" is supposed to be a "t".

Ah, that Calvin...

Ok, so it's been a while, I know, and I actually expect everyone else to post daily on their kids and the funny things they do. Maybe we'll get better at it. This is Abby, btw, I suppose one of these days I'll get my own username. We'll see. Anyway, back to Calvin. He said two funny things this week, one I'll tell and one is probably better for Daddy to tell.

So, last night we were sitting down to a make-shift sort of leftovers dinner. We all had something different, Calvin had ordered a Turkey sandwich. As soon as he sat down, he dove in and had the thing pretty much polished off before the prayer. Grinning, he said something like, "I win, I beat everyone." Then he said, "That's because I ate head first."

Puzzled, I asked him how else would he eat? I know, I'm just oozing creativity. At that moment, Greg and I looked at each other and realized he meant he had a head start.

So there's one more thing I was supposed to write about and, of course, I've forgotten. That's what I have Greg for. Either I'll remember, or he'll be back soon to fill you in. Good night all.

More Baptism Pics

My favorite part in all of these is Calvin. He was so intense and just fascinated by the whole thing.

Josh's Baptism

Josh was baptized today! I have reflected on it a bit on my blog if you are interested. This is the first batch of pictures, but there will proabably be more on the way. The first few are of Josh receiving his baptism present from Abby and I, a new Bible and case. Then there is one of the service where Josh is about to be baptized and one of the cake the church got for him. It was chocolate with green frosting, which he was very proud of.

Last Day of School

So today marked the end of the school year for Josh, its also his last T-Ball game, and a few days before his baptism. Its a big week for him and he's been particularly giddy. School went really well the last few months, and Josh is reading at a pretty impressive level. More importantly, he is super excited about reading now (which was not always the case over the last year) and is beginning to read chapter books. He is also excited about a program the local library offers, where he can read 15 books, and then he gets 2 tickets to our local minor league team. Pray for him for this weekend, he is really excited, and has been a huge blessing to our family.

One other story, this time about Calvin. Last night we made pizza for dinner, and Calvin decided he does not like pizza. Josh pointed out that Calvin eats pizza all the time, and that he really does like it. To which, with absolutely no time to think about it, Calvin responded, "I don't like this pizza, for dinner, tonight." And then proceded to stair down Josh, as if to say, "Top that."

More Easter updates

Also, you receive two bonus Calvin stories:
I had just finished trimming my beard, which for some reason was very entertaining to the boys, so I asked them how it looked, Josh said nice, and Calvin chimed in with, "Stylish."

Earlier today while playing Madden on PS2 with one of the youth from church, Josh and Calvin had this exchange:
Josh: Dad, what are you doing?
Calvin: He's practicing onside kicks.
Josh: What does that mean?
Calvin: He is eating noodles.
Josh: What does that mean?
Calvin: He is eating and riding on an ice cube. (Calvin still completely straight faced)
Josh: What does that mean?
Calvin: He is using his eyeball to fish with. (Still no smile, Josh becoming quite irritated)
Josh:What does that mean?
Calvin: It means he's playing football (this is said in the most condescending way possible)

Now for some pics:

Updates

Let me begin by apologizing for not keeping up with this better. None the less, I will update this more over the next few days. Here are some fairly recent pics, from Easter:
